Contemporary art in motion

Romaeuropa Festival brings music, theatre, dance and digital art together in a citywide programme. Its 41st edition runs from 8 September to 15 November 2026. It is already in progress, with October and November performances still ahead on the review date. It offers a meeting with Rome’s contemporary stage alongside its historic monuments and museums.

The fascination is in changing artistic languages: movement, voice, a stage object or a musical composition can each carry a story. For a first visit, choose a genre you enjoy and read about one production rather than trying to cover the entire festival.

Choosing an experience

The remaining programme includes theatre, music and events for children and parents. Haribo Kimchi is listed at Mattatoio, while No yogurt for the dead is at Teatro Vascello. Read each production’s description to understand its themes and approach. For Kids + Family, check the recommended age and performance language before buying.

Our editorial suggestion is to give one evening to one work, particularly if contemporary theatre or dance is new to you. The official venue list includes Mattatoio on Piazza Orazio Giustiniani, Teatro Vascello on Via Giacinto Carini and Auditorium Parco della Musica. Each event’s page determines its actual venue. Check its date, time and ticket information directly with Romaeuropa before arranging the journey.

Planning the journey

A trip from your hotel to the chosen venue starts at your actual accommodation address. Arrival at Fiumicino (FCO) or Ciampino (CIA), followed by travel to your accommodation, is a separate part of the journey. To discuss an event transfer, contact Hola Taxi with your chosen date, venue, departure address and passenger count. Discuss the return journey separately once your plans are clear.
