A marathon with the city along the way
Run Rome The Marathon is an international city marathon over 42.195 km. Its 32nd edition is scheduled for 14 March 2027. For runners, it is a sporting goal in its own right, with Rome’s architecture providing a distinctive setting: the published course description places the start at Fori Imperiali and the finish at Circo Massimo.

The trip can appeal to runners and their companions alike. One person comes for the distance, others to support them and see the city on a major race day. Agree what matters most for your journey before filling the itinerary. The marathon deserves its own place in the trip; arrange other sightseeing around the runner’s preparation and recovery.
Rome from a runner’s perspective
The organiser describes a course beginning at Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum behind the runners. Its account includes Piazza Venezia, Circo Massimo, the Tiber embankments, Castel Sant’Angelo and Via della Conciliazione. The route then returns towards central squares before finishing inside Circo Massimo. Check the final map for your edition before the start.
Our suggestion for supporters is to choose one or two viewing spots and a calm place to meet after the race. For runners, a clear race-day plan is more useful than trying to turn the distance into a sightseeing tour at the same time. Consult the 2027 regulations and organiser messages for entry conditions, race-number collection and current instructions.

Date, start and journey
The marathon takes place on 14 March 2027. The official regulations confirm the date and distance; the course description names Via dei Fori Imperiali and Circo Massimo. Check details of the start and finish areas closer to the event. Use material for the correct edition, especially when choosing a meeting place and planning your arrival.
Discuss the hotel-to-start journey and the return after finishing separately. Through Hola Taxi’s contacts, you can provide the date, pickup address, number of passengers and desired arrival time. Agree the precise point with race-day traffic arrangements in mind. If flying into Fiumicino (FCO) or Ciampino (CIA), plan the journey to your hotel first, followed by a separate trip to the sporting event.
