From 23 to 29 November 2026, Milan hosts BookCity, a citywide festival for people who enjoy reading and talking about books. Its appeal lies in meeting authors, listening to conversations and discovering a different view of a familiar subject. This is the fifteenth edition, with writer Marco Balzano curating the programme.
One specific invitation has already been announced: Colson Whitehead is the guest of honour at the opening on 23 November at 8 pm in Teatro Dal Verme. What is known about the programme?
The organiser is preparing new ways for authors and readers to talk. BookCity retains its citywide format, with projects for schools, universities and families alongside the main programme. A new strand, BookCity Milano 0–6, introduces reading to very young children and their families.

As of the check on 21 October, the full programme presentation is still ahead, scheduled for 26 October. Before booking travel, open the organiser’s updated programme and choose specific events. The announced opening offers a way to begin planning now, while the remaining days can take shape as details are published.
One festival, several addresses
The overall dates are 23–29 November 2026. Teatro Dal Verme is confirmed for the opening; other conversations may take place at different venues around Milan. If you select several events, note each venue’s name and address to see whether they work together in one day.
