Charlie and the Chocolate Factory turns Roald Dahl’s story into a large-scale stage musical. From 14 to 23 May 2027, Etihad Arena invites audiences to join Charlie Bucket on a visit to Willy Wonka’s factory. It is an option for families, friends and anyone who enjoys theatrical imagination with music and inventive visuals.

A golden ticket opens the door to a world of chocolate rivers, extraordinary inventions and Oompa-Loompas. The familiar story is only part of the appeal: the announcement highlights stage illusions and hologauze 3 D technology used to create visual effects. You can leave the details of each scene as a surprise for the performance.
What audiences will hear and see
The production combines songs from the classic film, including Pure Imagination, The Candy Man and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, with new music by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. It can appeal both to those who remember the film and to people discovering the story for the first time.
The factory comes to life through colourful characters, sets and effects. When choosing the show for a child, talk about the story together: would they enjoy a journey into an unusual world, and are they ready to follow a theatrical performance? Consider that alongside the production’s age guidance.

A family visit
The organiser recommends the musical for ages seven and over. Children under three are not admitted. Before buying, read the current conditions and choose a suitable performance date and time.
The run is announced for 14–23 May at Etihad Arena on Yas Island. Use the venue’s timetable to select your performance. If it falls near the end of your holiday, leave enough time between the show and your flight.
Contact Hola Taxi with your chosen performance, passenger count and departure point. You can discuss travel to Etihad Arena from your Abu Dhabi hotel or from Dubai, with a return after the show. You can also discuss meeting at the airport and travelling to your hotel at the start of the holiday.
