IIFA Weekend & Awards brings Indian cinema together with a large audience for awards ceremonies, performances and a celebration of the film industry. On 22–23 January 2027, the event returns to Etihad Arena on Yas Island. For fans of the films and their stars, it is a reason to plan a trip to Abu Dhabi in its own right.
The weekend programme and the main IIFA Awards evening have different schedules. The organiser publishes a two-day plan, while Etihad Arena’s page for the main ceremony specifies 23 January. Check which event your chosen ticket covers.
Why go to IIFA?
The appeal is the combination of film awards and a live stage show. IIFA’s official page names Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan as hosts of the main ceremony, with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor among the announced performers. Check the participants and performance details again closer to your trip, as the announcement leaves the running order to be revealed.
If you have followed Indian cinema for years, the evening is a chance to see familiar names as part of a large live event. When travelling with friends whose interests differ, discuss what matters most: the awards, the musical performances or the experience of attending an international ceremony. This helps you choose an evening everyone will enjoy.
How the two days differ
For 22 January, the organiser lists a press conference, masterclass and IIFA Digital Awards. The main IIFA Awards ceremony and associated activities are planned for 23 January. Some parts are invitation-only; check access for each activity you want to attend.
For the main ceremony, plan around Etihad Arena on 23 January 2027. Consult the official announcement for start times, seating and ticket conditions. Leave some free time before the evening, particularly if you are coming from another emirate.
Contact Hola Taxi with the IIFA event you would like to attend, your departure point and passenger count. You can discuss a journey from your Abu Dhabi hotel or from Dubai, with a return after the programme. If your trip starts with a flight, share your plans for meeting at the airport and travelling to your hotel too.
