Tchaikovsky's familiar music, the story of Odette and Prince Siegfried, and performers on skates: Swan Lake on Ice brings the ballet to specially prepared stage ice. Imperial Ice Stars perform the production at Dubai Opera on 14–17 January 2027.
Choose it for a new perspective on a familiar work. Skating, lifts and theatrical choreography combine to tell the story. If you enjoy ice performances and Tchaikovsky's music, the evening could be a welcome addition to a Dubai holiday.
What audiences will see
Dubai Opera announces a cast of 24 skaters, aerial lifts, costumes and stage effects including snow, mist and pyrotechnics. The production combines figure skating, elements of classical ballet and contemporary circus arts. Swan Lake's characters and story remain central, but the means of expression differ markedly from a conventional ballet performance.
We would recommend the show to anyone interested in that meeting of genres. Listening to excerpts from Tchaikovsky beforehand may help you recognise the themes during the performance. Afterwards, discuss which scenes changed most through the use of ice and skating.
For a family evening, check the age conditions for your chosen performance first. A story familiar from ballet does not by itself determine whether a particular production will suit your child.
Choosing a performance
The series runs from 14 to 17 January in Dubai Opera's Main Auditorium. The page lists performance options at 14:00 and 20:00; check which are available on your chosen date when buying. A matinee can be the focus of a relaxed family day, while an evening performance offers a dedicated night at the theatre.
Before booking other plans, make sure you have chosen the correct ticket date and time. On a short holiday, it is easier to arrange walks, dinners and meetings around a fixed performance.
Travelling to the theatre
Once you have chosen a performance, enquire about a transfer from your hotel to Dubai Opera and back. Include the date, start time, passenger numbers and accommodation address. If travelling as a family, describe your group in the enquiry.
