Light changes the city
Llum BCN is a festival of light art in which streets and squares become part of the works. Its sixteenth edition takes place from 5 to 7 February 2027 in Poblenou and the areas around DHub. Choose it for an evening walk that reveals architecture and open spaces through light, colour and movement.

The announced format combines work by international artists, Barcelona’s university-level schools of design, art and architecture, and proposals at cultural and commercial venues. It offers a chance to observe different approaches to a shared environment. Some artists use light to draw attention to architecture; others make it the material of an installation. You do not need specialist knowledge to look closely at the way a space changes.
A route of different impressions
Moving between works is part of the experience. You can compare scale, distance, illuminated surfaces and the ways visitors enter an artistic situation. For a group, the walk leaves room to talk about what you have just seen. If design or the urban environment interests you, the involvement of specialist schools provides another reason to examine different artistic solutions.
Architects Xevi Bayona and Núria Prieto are named as artistic directors in the current announcement. Check the detailed 2027 installation list, map and opening times when they are published on the official site. Its archived works help explain the festival’s character, but do not promise that the same objects will return in February 2027. Photographs in this article show the 2026 edition and are labelled as archive material.

Three February days in Poblenou
Confirmed dates are 5, 6 and 7 February 2027. The announced principal area is Poblenou’s streets and squares and the surroundings of DHub. This city festival uses several spaces, so build your visit around the published map for your chosen edition. Our editorial suggestion is to select the works you most want to see and leave time for walking and pauses, rather than trying to see everything at once.
Once you know where your walk will begin and end, discuss the journey with Hola Taxi. Give your date, pickup address and planned starting place. Discuss a return from another part of the route separately. If you are staying in Barcelona after arriving at BCN Barcelona–El Prat, the evening hotel-to-festival journey is its own part of your trip.
