Picasso and architecture at Museu Picasso

Picasso y la arquitectura at Museu Picasso: cities, interiors, Cubism and a dialogue with Le Corbusier. 20 November 2026–7 March 2027.

Looking at Picasso through space

Picasso y la arquitectura at Museu Picasso de Barcelona examines the artist through his relationship with architecture. Picasso did not practise as an architect, but continually explored ways of representing a city, room, object or the empty space between forms. From 20 November 2026 to 7 March 2027, these questions provide a distinct route through his work.

The exhibition may appeal to visitors who enjoy painting and architecture, or want to look beyond individual famous paintings. Curators Maria Isabel Navarro, Enrique Granell and Emmanuel Guigon consider connections between artistic disciplines. Rather than seeking buildings designed by Picasso, you can observe how his visual thinking changes the way the visible world is understood.

Cities, rooms and cages of space

Urban views form one theme. Façades, streets and architectural structures are fragmented and reconstructed in the artist’s work. Another section moves indoors: studios, rooms with windows, terraces, still lifes and figures show light, depth and everyday life becoming artistic questions.

The cages of space section examines sculptural experiments: open structures of lines and planes in which emptiness becomes part of the work. The exhibition then turns towards the synthesis of the arts and a dialogue between Picasso and Le Corbusier. It offers a chance to compare ways of thinking about form, beyond recognising familiar names. Our editorial suggestion is to allow time for these comparisons and choose a few themes that interest you most, rather than trying to cover everything equally closely in one visit.

When to visit

The exhibition is open to the public from 20 November 2026 to 7 March 2027. Before visiting, check Museu Picasso’s current opening hours, ticket options and conditions for your chosen day. Related activities and family workshops have their own dates and arrangements; they are not automatically part of every museum visit. The official exhibition page distinguishes these additions from the principal exhibition.

When planning a museum day, first decide how long you want to spend here and what you will do afterwards. You can discuss the journey with Hola Taxi, giving your date, pickup address and Museu Picasso de Barcelona. Discuss the return or next journey separately. An arrival at BCN Barcelona–El Prat and a museum visit are different stages, so avoid binding both to one rigid time.
